Charles David and Mary Jane (Edmondson) Grimshaw
Charles David and Mary Jane (Edmondson) Grimshaw immigrated to Guelph, Ontario from the Rawdon area of Yorkshire in 1910. Mary Jane arrived prior to Charles and the oldest son, who remained behind for a period of time to complete contract obligations. The couple were apparently clothiers in Yorkshire and immigrated to Guelph to work at a spinning mill. They had eight children. Charles David was an 8th generation of the Edward and Dorothy (Raner) Grimshaw family line.

My name is Bernice Emberson. My grandmother came to Guelph Ontario, Canada in 1910 with the family except her husband Charles David Grimshaw. He was born in Bradfford Yorkshire. They had 4 daughters and three sons. His father was Abraham Grimshaw married to Eliza (Greaves) Grimshaw . I have a copy of Charles Davids birth Certificate and a lot more about our family My mother was Charles Davids daughter I can name the siblings, she married Henry (Harry) Charles Higgins (which of course was my maiden name).
We have a large extended family. Coming from the family connected to Ivy House in Rawdon. I have visited the area as some of my family I have seen the house and was in the adjoin house (2002)
My grandmother came first as my Grandfather and oldest son had to stay to complete a contract. They were clothiers from Rawdon, Yorkshire.
They were coming to Guelph to work at the Guelph Spinning Mill.
Because the line is so extensive and I am almost 75 it is quite a job to look everything up. My sisters (there were 6 5 still living) and brothers 2, both who are deceased are all older except one younger.
