“Grimshaw Origins” Website Management
Planning and Tracking Progress…
The Grimshaw “story” is a large one. Yet not so large as to be impossible to document, one step at a time, as new information is discovered or contributed from others. The process involves more effort than the author has available to keep up with all the time, so a management system has become essential.
Generally the first priority is to respond to contributors in a timely manner. Those who are willing to participate and contribute deserve, and get, prompt attention.
There are now nearly 300 pages on the website. Many of them are in great need of upgrade and improvement. A transition to a newer version of the website software a few years ago did a lot of damage, so a return was made to the earlier version. The process “broke” many of the banners on the older webpages (took out the words), and deleted the links from the contents of the pages to the headings below. This repair work will have to wait awhile as other priorities on advances in the website are accomplished.
A brief biography and photo of the website author appear at the bottom of this webpage.

The website author, Thomas W. Grimshaw, was born in South Dakota, but has lived in Texas for many years. He has a B.S. degree in Geological Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Geology from The University of Texas at Austin. He worked for much of his professional career in the field of environmental protection and cleanup, but is now engaged primarily in management consulting and project development and management. He recently received a Master of Public Affairs degree as a second career option but continues to work in the environmental and energy fields.
He became interested in the “Grimshaw story” in the late 1990s and works on this website as a hobby in his free time. He has made three trips to Lancashire for research and photography. When he’s not working on the hobby in his spare time, he pursues his interest in public policy toward cold fusion, which he believes to be a “real” phenomenon with great potential. He also teaches a course on Environmental Policymaking at The University of Texas at Austin. He is married and has one daughter.
